Special Exhibition “SPORTS × MANGA” – The attraction of sports that manga shows＜Panasonic Center TOKYO＞

As one of cultures representing Japan, "Manga" has been spreading worldwide. Various ways of expression and power of communication that manga has have been a source of media art culture of Japan and generated various movements both in Japan and abroad.

This time, Panasonic Center Tokyo will hold a special exhibition on the theme of "Manga" and "Sports". How have the real sports have shaped manga, and what kind of charm have the characters and worldview drawn in manga added to the real sports? In this exhibition, we will introduce sports manga and reconsider the attraction of sports that have been reflected in the manga and influenced on people. As the fifth exhibition of the special event "Let's make TOKYO together" which we have conducted toward the year 2020, we will give you impressive experience by approaching the history and spirit of manga and sports, as well as a dynamic exhibition combined with technology.

We have appointed the art director who works for "Angglome International Comics Festival", the largest manga exhibition held every year in France, as curator for the exhibition. We will connect the legacy of "Manga" and "Sports" shown in the exhibition from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games to the Paris 2024 Games.

In addition, various events related to "Manga" and "Sports" will be held during the period. Please come and visit.
