Here at the Museum of Maritime Science, we are interested in furthering social education. We hope to provide opportunities for lifelong study relating to maritime affairs, for all kinds of people.
As such, this event is designed so that people with visual impairments can participate and engage with our exhibits. The theme is: ‘Touch the Soya Icebreaker! Learn through touch on this guided tour’.
The tour takes place on the Soya Icebreaker, and it is our hope that your experience at the museum awakens a new interest in all things maritime.
Details:
The tour features areas usually closed to the public.
- Feel your way around the corridors, rooms, and bathrooms of the Soya.
- Handle a model of the Soya.
- Touch polar ice and listen for the sound of air trapped in the ice from eras long past.
- Touch one of the propellers of the Soya.
- Experience the scents of the infirmary and other areas on board.
- Hear a talk from former crew of the Soya.

Time: 10:00– (Meet at the ticketing area from 9:30)
* In the event of heavy rain, the event will be cancelled.
*In the event of light rain, the event will go ahead as scheduled.
* Information about the 2nd session will be released in due course.
